How To Choose The Best Recruitment Services For The Construction Industry

The process of recruitment can be a major hassle for any company, especially one which lacks personnel who can vet through applications and conduct interviews. This is why many companies choose to outsource the recruitment process to a recruitment agency.
Recruitment agencies are founded specifically for the purpose of matching the best candidate with the best position. The bigger the reach of a recruitment agency, the greater are their chances of finding a good candidate for a job, or vice versa. Merely having a large pool of candidates and clients will not do, though – it is absolutely necessary to have proper recruiting personnel who understand the industry and can make informed decisions about employment.
The construction industry is one that absorbs a huge number of workers, but often on a contractual basis. In addition, some construction firms prefer to hire local laborers on contracts rather than taking their existing staff with them to different parts of the country. This is where good contract placement becomes extremely useful – as soon as the client names the place and job description, the agency can come up with names that fit the job in question. It also helps when agencies work together, as they can then access the entire pool of job-seekers in a particular area.
Apart from construction laborers, the construction industry requires a variety of workers to attend to the different aspects of construction. Painters and paperhangers, carpetmakers, floor finishers, carpenters, masons, roofers, drywall installers, plasterers… the list goes on and on. A good recruitment agency understands all the needs of a construction manager, and will anticipate these needs instead of requiring tedious explanations. All a client should have to do is to explain the scope of the project, and offer a brief outline of the personnel required and the budget allotted for the task.
When approaching a recruitment agency, look out for the signs that differentiate the good agencies from the bad ones. A good recruitment agency will be adequately informed about your industry, and will have personnel who patiently listen to your needs rather than categorizing them into tried and tested formulae. Most recruitment agencies also recognize that working together under a united front is more likely to generate good results than cutting down on everyone’s sample space through unnecessary competition.
The proof of the pudding lies in the eating, so you can tell that you have found a good recruitment agency for construction jobs only when you have been supplied with personnel as you require them. Once you find a trustworthy recruitment agency, you will find a great burden lifted off your shoulders, as you are now assured of quality workmen no matter where you set up your next project.
Jobs With a Purpose: Graduate Jobs in the Green Construction Industry

One of the most explosive industries over the last five years has been in sustainable economic development. Automobile companies are offering smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles along with fleets of hybrid fuel vehicles for environmentally conscious consumers. Furniture retailers are beginning to offer chairs, couches, and tables made of wood grown in responsible forestry preserves. Grocers, restaurants, and major retailers are offering organic food and clothing for customers who want to spend their money more responsibly. However, the most lucrative aspect of the green movement is in green construction. From energy efficient homes to buildings that run on a minimal amount of electricity, billions of pounds are invested annually into green construction.
Graduates with backgrounds in architecture, design, and management should consider breaking into this promising field. The green construction movement is only in its infancy, ensuring long careers for young professionals with the foresight to apply for these jobs. Construction companies of all sizes are beginning to expand their green construction operations, requiring graduates and young professionals interested in learning about this socially responsible field. As well, the possibilities are endless for professionals in the UK who invest their time in this industry. After all, most new commercial and residential buildings and additions will be done with environmental concerns at the forefront.
The skills needed by graduates in the green construction industry are varied and a successful skill set is still developing in this young industry. However, green construction firms are looking for creative, hard working, and committed graduates for design and management jobs. Graduates who can think outside of the box and provide innovative building designs will be successful in the green construction field. Managers, designers, and architects alike need to demonstrate a strong work ethic and an ability to sacrifice some of their time in order to ensure the most environmentally friendly buildings possible. Finally, everyone involved in green construction needs to be committed to the underlying idea of building homes and offices that meet their clients specific needs.
Graduates who enter the green construction field will find a lot of competition but great financial incentives for successful work. The field of applicants is still small for these positions, giving committed graduates the opportunity to showcase their abilities to hiring managers. Once these professionals get their foot in the door, they will receive between 28,000 and 40,000 pounds per year depending on position. As well, many green construction employees receive stock options through their company which provide a nice bonus on an annual basis.
Looking Forward in the Construction Industry – Q3 2010 Construction Trends Considered

After the crash, there was literally a front page article every day in all the newspapers for 18-months straight, needless to say, no one was interested in building, buying, or even pulling permits on new projects. Well, it looks like we have finally turned a corner.
Meaning that many of the articles we are reading concerning the Construction Industry, about contractors, construction management, or construction trends is somewhat positive. Manufacturing of construction equipment is up, and there are many recent large scale developments, other than the known stimulus (so-called shovel ready projects) moving forward.
The government statistics show us moving forward at the end of Q2 in 2010, as construction spending was up sharply in April of 2010 over the previous month of March, and get this it was up 2.7% over all. Home Construction projects put forth spending exceeding 4.5% over the same time period. Obviously, the national US trends are different than the most battered states, but all regions showed improvement, meaning the trend stands, and momentum is building, literally, we are building again.
The construction was really across the board this time, new factories, facilities, roads, infrastructure, homes, shopping malls, commercial properties, retail, etc. This recent uptick is by far the biggest gains in a single month I’ve seen in over 10-years, it’s truly amazing, almost to the point of questioning the numbers, but we see things are very good in quite a few industries. We’ve been down month to month one to 4 percent nearly all of 2008, 2009 and the first quarter of 2010 for the most part.
It is interesting that with all this excess capacity of space; retail and commercial office space that we have such an uptick in construction right now. This means jobs, and growth, it’s a good thing. Most are not expecting any type of full recovery until 2011, and yet, we sure see some positive signs in construction right now. The Construction Industry is also having mixed views on confidence levels whereas before it was all doom and gloom.
The trick now is managed growth, which seems to be expected due to the difficulty in getting construction loans now. And by 2011 we will see the interest rates move up again, perhaps keeping things in check. Today, we can smile, and consider these positive signs and by Q4 we will know if this is a trend or just a blip on the radar. Please consider all this.
